How it all started
October 7th changed everything.
For me, it was the moment I knew there was no going back to how everything was.
My name is Ronit, I’m from Mexico city, and like so many, I felt I couldn’t just keep watching from afar. I left my home, my job, my old life and came to Israel with love, with pain, and with the certainty that I had to act. Since then, I’ve stood close to those who stand for us, the soldiers of this country.
I’ve sat with them on bases, listened to their stories, shared their moments of strength and vulnerability. And what I saw was impossible to ignore; even the most basic needs for their safety and well being aren’t always there.
Out of those encounters, Hamarkalut was born.
A nonprofit organization with one clear purpose: to be there for them, in the most real and direct way possible.
No bureaucracy. No middlemen. Every donation goes straight to the front lines, to provide life saving gear, protection, and support.
Because behind every uniform is a dad, a son, a husband, a boyfriend, a friend.
Someone who left their family, their comfort, their normal life to protect something bigger than themselves: the State of Israel.
Hamarkalut was created to stand with them in the most real way.
By meeting their needs on the ground and reminding them that while they protect us, we are here to protect them too
The team
The project is led by a hands on team of seven young women and men, all deeply committed and actively involved.
Each of us brings a different background and perspective, together those differences make us stronger.
Our team includes people with real military experience, with backgrounds in the Israeli Navy, combat units, and ongoing reserve service. One of our board members is currently serving in an elite combat unit, with over 400 days of reserve duty during the current conflict. This lived experience brings the reality of the field directly into our work.
That close connection allows us to act with clarity, responsibility, and speed.
We combine operational understanding with strong execution, moving fast when needed, thinking carefully before acting, and staying accountable from decision making to delivery.
This isn’t a symbolic board.
It’s an active team that takes responsibility seriously and is involved in every step of the work.
Young, committed, and deeply connected to the mission.
Different perspectives. One shared purpose. Real impact.
Hamarkalut?
Who were the Amarkalim?
In the days of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, the Amarkalim were the seven trustees who each held one of the seven keys to the Temple treasury. No door could be opened unless all were present.
They weren’t priests or politicians, but guardians of integrity, responsible for making sure that everything inside the Temple was protected, transparent, and used for the greater good.
That’s why we chose the name Hamarkalut, because just like them, we see our role as one of responsibility, accountability, and guardianship, making sure every resource reaches exactly where it’s needed most.
